Romans 16:1-2 Paul recommends Phoebe to the church in Rome and asks them to take care of her. He assures them that she is a servant of the Church, or deaconess.

Romans 16:3-16 Paul asks for the church in Rome to greet a number of saints who have meant a lot to him, men and women, new believers and believers who have known Christ longer than Paul.

Romans 16:17-18 Those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way are people who should be watched out for. These are the people who tell you what you want to hear. They come in all shapes and sizes. They sounds good but will silver-tongue you away from Truth. So, keep away from them.

Romans 16:19 The obedience of the Roman Christians brought peace and joy to themselves, but since the Kingdom of God is interlinked their closeness to God brought joy to Paul, their spiritual father, and encouragement to believers all over. Then Paul gives a simple truth that would greatly improve life, being wise when it comes to good things, and innocent when it comes to evil things.

Romans 16:20 I love the language here, “The God of peace will soon crush Satan”. This tells me that Satan is an enemy of peace and thus following Satan’s lies are destroying peace. Violent destruction of the plans of Satan will bring peace. To crush Satan, Christians must rely on God’s grace.

Romans 16:21-23 Some of Paul’s close associates send their greetings to the Roman church.

Romans 16:24 This verse is left out because it is considered not genuine since many major manuscripts don’t include it, however it is just a duplicate of the benediction in verse 20b.

Romans 16:25-27 Paul preached the Gospel to them, God established them. The message was hidden for ages, but God revealed it. God revealed it so that all nations might believe and obey. Praise God, Who is the only wise God, praise Him forever and ever through Christ Jesus.
